Thoughts From Matthew 7:21

“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.
Matthew 7:21 NKJV

God did not create heaven as a club for people who say the right password. Many people think they can do a few good deeds and get into heaven. Their goal is to get into heaven by the skin of their teeth. They figure heaven is the reward for their efforts.

Thoughts From Psalm 142

As I was reading this morning from Psalms, Psalm 142 and 143 grabbed my attention. King David was crying out “There is no escape for me! No one cares about my soul!” Have you ever felt or feeling that way? That is how King David was feeling when he wrote Psalm 142. But, he knew who to turn too, and so should we. He cried out to God “Hear my prayer, Lord”! “Listen to my pleadings”! “Answer me in Your faithfulness, in Your righteousness”! “Lord, You are my refuge”! “My soul longs for you”! “Bring my soul out of this prison”! “In Your righteousness bring my soul out of trouble”! “So that I may give thanks to Your name!” Folks, is your soul longing for God?

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Thoughts From Genesis 2:18

The LORD God said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.”
Genesis 2:18 NKJV

God is just about to create Eve. God didn’t want Adam to be alone. Folks, even way back then, God was concerned about our loneliness. And He still is today. God does not want us to be lonely, that’s why He gives us families and friends.

It is healthy to spend some time alone. It is healthy to spend some time alone with God. But we are not designed to spend all our time alone. God wants us working together, sharing one another’s tough times and triumphs.

There is a tremendous power in fellowship. We are supposed to lift one another up, support one another and keep one another company. Relationships like this honor God.

Folks, if you are feeling lonely, talk to God about it. He does care. Ask Him to send you friends to help you in life. Ask him to help you strengthen your bonds within your family. He will! I’ll leave you with these words….

“For the LORD will not forsake His people, for His great name’s sake, because it has pleased the LORD to make you His people.”
1 Samuel 12:22 NKJV

Is There Help?

Sometimes our burdens seem more than we can bear, and we wonder how we can go on.

We all carry some type of burden, whether it’s the heavy burden of sin, the burden of not being able to handle the concerns, problems, worries that life throws at us, the burden of excessive demands of religious leaders, the burden of oppression and persecution, or the burden of weariness in the search for God.

Yes, when we are burdened or mistreated, we may feel defeated, but we don’t have to be defeated. God can help us carry burdens!

Thoughts From 2 Corinthians 1:3-7

As I was reading 2nd Corinthians today, these verses from chapter one stood out. In this passage Paul talks about how God comforts us through all our troubles and suffering. And with the comfort God gives us we will be able to comfort others. But there is one thing we must do to receive God’s comfort, look at verse 9. Folks, we must stop relying on ourselves and learn to rely only on God! It’s that easy, turn your troubles, whatever it may be, and let God handle it.

2 Corinthians 1:3-7 NLT
All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. [4] He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. [5] For the more we suffer for Christ, the more God will shower us with his comfort through Christ. [6] Even when we are weighed down with troubles, it is for your comfort and salvation! For when we ourselves are comforted, we will certainly comfort you. Then you can patiently endure the same things we suffer. [7] We are confident that as you share in our sufferings, you will also share in the comfort God gives us.
