Thoughts From 1 John 2:15-16

1st John chapter 2 verses15 and 16 says, “Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world.”

Some people think that worldliness only has to do with external behavior…the people we associate with, the places we go, the activities we enjoy. But worldliness affects us internally because it begins in the heart and is characterized by three attitudes.

Thoughts from Job 5:7

Job 5:7 says “People are born for trouble as readily as sparks fly up from a fire.” Folks, we need to understand that every mishap, affliction or problem in our lives can’t always be attributed to the work of Satan, sometimes things just happen while there are other times when we or others might be the cause of our troubles, stress, or pain. Let’s not jump to the conclusion that every bad thing that happens to us is the result of a fiery dart of Satan.

Thoughts From Matthew 5:3

In Matthew 5:3, Jesus says “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” Folks, happiness can be found where there is poverty. The word translated “poor” is the word which denotes absolute poverty. It describes not the condition of having a little, but of having nothing. It is not financial poverty that Jesus has in mind, but spiritual poverty. We must learn to admit our need and to recognize the only one who can fill it.

Thoughts From 1 John 5:4

Good Morning! It’s Sunday and the beginning of a new week. We don’t know what this week will bring, but what whatever the world can throw at us, we already have VICTORY! 1st John 5:4 says, “For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith.” Folks,  Jesus never promised that obeying Him would be easy. But the hard work and self-discipline of serving Him won’t be a burden to those who love Him. Even if your load starts to feel heavy, you can always trust Jesus to help you bear it. Have a great week!

Personal Times of Solitude

Have you ever wondered how important are personal times of solitude? Matthew 14:23 tells us that “after sending them home, He (Jesus) went up into the hills by Himself to pray. Night fell while He was there alone.” Jesus took time out for quiet. Seeking solitude was an important priority for Jesus. He made room in His busy schedule to be alone with the Father. Folks, spending time with God in prayer nurtures a vital relationship and equips us to meet life’s challenges and struggles. We need to develop the discipline of spending time alone with God….. it will help you grow spiritually and become more and more like Christ!
