“So she fell on her face, bowed down to the ground, and said to him, “Why have I found favor in your eyes, that you should take notice of me, since I am a foreigner?” [11] And Boaz answered and said to her, “It has been fully reported to me, all that you have done for your mother-in-law since the death of your husband, and how you have left your father and your mother and the land of your birth, and have come to a people whom you did not know before.”
Ruth 2:10-12 NKJV
Boaz did not yet know Ruth, but he had heard all about her. He had heard how she stood by her mother-in-law, Naomi, and he was impressed. Not only did he give Ruth food to feed Naomi and herself, but he also blessed her by wishing that God would reward her for her integrity.
Integrity means to have a solid foundation of values and the courage to stand by your beliefs. It takes strength to have integrity, and Ruth’s integrity had earned her a good reputation.
Integrity will earn you a good reputation too. Through God’s Word, you are learning the difference between right and wrong. You are learning what pleases God and what does not. It takes a lot of strength to stand up for what you believe in. It is also well worth the effort, living with integrity builds a good reputation, which pleases the Lord.
