“And Abram believed the LORD, and the LORD counted him as righteous because of his faith.”
Genesis 15:6 NLT
We cannot be righteous on our own. We cannot do enough good things or behave well enough to ever achieve righteousness. Isaiah wrote that all our righteous acts are like filthy rags compared to God’s righteousness.
But despite our inadequateness, God has given us a way to be righteous. God called Abraham righteous, not because he did good things or was well-behaved, but because he believed. He believed with all his heart, all his soul and all his strength. And if we do the same, we too can be counted as righteous.
Folks, we don’t have to be perfect. But we must agree with the Word of God. We also have to submit to the will of God and accept the sacrifice provided by the Son of God. And we too need to love our God with all our hearts, all our souls and all our strength. Then we too will be credited as righteous.
