“And pray for me, too. Ask God to give me the right words so I can boldly explain God’s mysterious plan that the Good News is for Jews and Gentiles alike. I am in chains now, still preaching this message as God’s ambassador. So pray that I will keep on speaking boldly for him, as I should.”
Ephesians 6:19 – 20 NLT
When you think of courage, what kind of situations do you think of? Do you think of firefighters rushing into a burning building? Do you think of police officers chasing dangerous criminals? Do you think of soldiers fighting in enemy territories? Courage certainly does play a role in each of those situations. But courage is not just physical action.
For a believer, courage plays a role in almost every decision we make. If we follow Jesus, we are going to make choices that are unpopular. We are going to go against the crowd. We are going to stand up for people who are being bullied, made fun of, or ignored. We are going to speak up when we see things that are wrong.
Folks, that takes guts, more than most people have. So where does that courage come from? God Himself. No matter what situation you are facing, you can get the personal strength you need directly from Him. Always remember these words….”Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.”
