“A peaceful heart leads to a healthy body; jealousy is like cancer in the bones.”
Proverbs 14:30 NLT
Jealousy rots our bones? That sounds horrible! Now, jealousy probably won’t literally rot your bones, but King Solomon chose these words to convey just how much damage jealousy can do to a person. Jealousy causes pain, suffering, and can eat away at our spiritual life.
But here’s the good news. A heart at peace gives life! As believers our hearts can be at peace. We know the answers to all of life’s big questions: We know why we are here; we know what our greatest purpose is; and we know what will happen when we die. Folks, having that knowledge and trusting in God’s truth will give us a heart at peace.
A heart at peace has no need to be jealous of anyone. We know that we have everything we really need. We know that we have no need to be jealous of anyone else because God has a perfect plan especially designed for us. We don’t need to let jealousy get in our way.
