Thoughts From Genesis 25 and 26

Our Old Testament reading today is Genesis chapters 25 and 26. Chapter 25 starts out with the descendants of Abraham with his wife Keturah, which he took after Sarah had died. The death of Abraham at 175 years old. The birth of Esau and Jacob, when Issac was 60 years old. The chapter ends with Esau giving up his birthright to Jacob for food. There are many like Esau today, who will give up anything to get what they want or what they think they need. Folks, we don’t have to worry about food, clothing, or shelter…Why don’t we need to worry about those things? Well, here is what our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ said…

“So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ [32] These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. [33] Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

Matthew 6:31-33 NLT

In chapter 26 Isaac pulls an Abraham. That’s right, Issac did the same thing Abraham did to Pharaoh, but Isaac did it to Abimelech king of the Philistines. Isaac fearing that he would be killed for her, told Abimelech that Rebekah was his sister. As with all lies, they do come out eventually. Well, that’s my thought on today”s reading, feel free to leave your insight, thoughts, comments. I’ll leave with the words of one of the wisest men that ever lived, King Solomon…..”The LORD detests lying lips, but he delights in those who tell the truth.”
