Our reading today is Genesis chapters 7 through 9. Chapter 7 opens up with God telling Noah to enter into the ark with his wife, his 3 sons and their wives, and the animals. When we hear the story about Noah and the animals, we always hear they came by 2’s, a male and female. But that’s not the whole story or completely true. God told Noah to bring the “clean” animals by sevens and the “unclean” animals by 2’s. “Clean” animals by sevens, sevens is plural, meaning multiples of seven. Have you ever wondered why or even noticed it. Why? For food and for sacrifices. Yes, God had dietary laws and laws on how to do sacrifices. Folks, this was close to 1000 years before God gave His law to Moses. Yes, God’s law was implemented in garden with Adam and is still valid today. You can see God’s law all through the book of Genesis. I know I got you thinking, and that’s a good thing. Check it out, you might be enlightened.
