Government Cannot Solve Problems of Faith

1 Samuel 8:6-7 NLT
“Samuel was displeased with their request and went to the LORD for guidance. [7] “Do everything they say to you,” the LORD replied, “for they are rejecting me, not you. They don’t want me to be their king any longer.”

The Israelites clamored for a king, thinking that a new system of government would bring about a change in the nation. Just like the Israelites we think the same way. We believe that a new administration will bring change to our nation.

But, just like Israel, our basic problem is disobedience to God, and with disobedience to God our problems will continue under any new administration. Government cannot solve problems of faith.

Look at what God says in Deuteronomy 28:1-2

“If you fully obey the LORD your God and carefully keep all his commands that I am giving you today, the LORD your God will set you high above all the nations of the world. [2] You will experience all these blessings if you obey the LORD your God:”

We need to submit to God’s leadership and we will thrive beyond our expectations. Our obedience is weak if we ask God to lead our family or personal life but continue to live by the world’s standards and values. Faith in God must touch all the practical areas of life.

Folks, we can’t know what God wants except through his Word, and his Word won’t affect our life unless we read and think about it regularly. God is the only one who can bring change in your life. I challenge each of you, if you want to see change in your life and this nation, today is the day to let God be God!
