Tonight we will be looking chapter verses 3 through 14. This opening sections begins with a thanksgiving and prayer, which is typical of New Testament letters. Paul thanks God for the Colossians’ progress in the faith and prays that they might understand it even better. Just as the Colossian Christians, we have the same confident hope that gives us a secure foundation for our faith and love. Folks, that secure foundation is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. As children of God, what God has reserved for us as believers has not yet been fully revealed, but it already exists in heaven. Isn’t it great that Jesus changes our life and through the Holy Spirit brings spiritual growth. Always remember that Jesus is our foundation and is the center of everything. Spiritual growth yields a clearer and deeper comprehension of Christian truth and conduct that pleases the Lord, through which we will have the endurance and patience to stand firm against evil. In the last part of verse 11 and the first part of verse 12 Paul reminds us that our relationship with God should bring us joy and we should always be thankful. Have you ever thanked God for your salvation? In not, you should start. A humble gratitude to God for your salvation is a powerful antidote to resist false teachings and anything satan can throw at you.
May God bless each of you with joy, peace, and love!
