Psalm 135:5 NLT
I know the greatness of the LORD- that our Lord is greater than any other god.
I know…those are some powerful words. To be able to say I know, you must have experience the situation or have a relationship with that person. That is the only way you can I know. I had an experience over 20 years ago at the VA hospital in St. Louis, Missouri during a week long visit. In the middle of the night I got a craving for a Pepsi, and the only place to get one was in the main lobby 3 floors down from my room. So, I ventured down to the lobby canteen. Of course, it was empty and there was an eerie feeling there. I was standing in front of the soda machine when I felt someone standing behind me. I turned around and there was a man standing there. He looked me straight in the eyes and asked “Do you believe in God?” Without blinking my eyes I replied ” Believe! I know God!” I turned back around to get my soda out of the machine and when I turned back to where he was standing he was gone. It was liked he vanished, nowhere to be seen. I’ll never know who or what he was, but I can tell you this, I never have been back in that canteen since!
There is a big difference in believing and knowing God. Many people say they believe in God, folks, demons even believe and they tremble. But knowing God is having a loving relationship with Him through what His Son Jesus Christ accomplished on the cross. When you have that relationship, you can boldly and confidently say I know God. I know God can and will forgive us, heal us, guide us, helps us, and loves us no matter what we do. Can you say “I know God?”
Thanks for sharing, makes me think of that verse in Jeremiah about not boasting in wisdom, strength or wealth. But boasting that we know God….also makes me think of Jesus saying, this is eternal life that they know YOU God and the One whom You have sent. Thanks again!
