1st Corinthians – Chapter 4

In verses 1 through 5 Paul emphasizes his faithfulness and the genuineness of his motives as an apostle of Jesus Christ. But remember that only God can judge your heart. Paul’s deepest desire and our deepest desire is to be found faithful before God. How people judge us doesn’t matter. Only the Lord can fully know our hearts and when He returns, He will judge.

In verses 6 through 21 Paul again rebukes the Corinthian church for their arrogance and then admonishes them as a father. Folks, let me tell you arrogance or pride is the failure to realize that everything comes from God. In our lives there should be no room for pride, a humble attitude is the only appropriate attitude we should have. Our attitudes should reflect God’s wisdom, not the world’s wisdom. Our life and words should demonstrate the reality of God’s power.
